Critical failure diagnosis on a variable frequency drive

A high-power VFD was out of service with no obvious root cause. A phased inspection protocol and safe return-to-service tests were carried out.

High-frequency telemetry showed oscillation in the output frequency. Spectral analysis (FFT) ruled out cavitation and pointed to the drive control.
